Edgar Allan Poe Square Public Art Project manager Jean Mineo with Poe Foundation of Boston board member Rob Velella, in Poe character, at a Boston Public Library celebration of Poe's 203rd birthday on Jan. 19, 2012. The foundation hosted a similar event at the BPL on Jan. 19, 2011; and its officers curated a major exhibition at the library, "The Raven in the Frog Pond: Edgar Allan Poe and the City of Boston," from Dec. 17, 2009 to March 31, 2010. The Poe Foundation's original application to create a permanent statue of Poe at the corner of Boylston and Charles streets was submitted to the Boston Art Commission on March 13, 2009.
